Fix the problem where you have to refresh the page to see your post.

Submitted by Bas on March 11, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Site: Channel9, Usability

When you reply to a thread (or edit one of your previous replies) and submit, the reply or your edits aren't visible until you refresh the page.

Fix it.

Make URLs in post auto-link

Submitted by longzheng on March 11, 2009 to Site: Channel9, Usability

HTTPs links in a forum post are always treated as plain text, requiring the poster to then manually link the text using the (bothersome) link popup

Valid HTTP URLs should just automatically become clickable links

Bad words filter - replace "*" with "I need to watch my language" :p

Submitted by GoddersUK on March 24, 2009 to Aesthetics, Site: Channel9

Bad words filter replaces bad words with "*", it used to replace them with "I need to watch my language" which I think was much better :) :p

Change it to replace them with "I need to watch my language"

Allow people to edit the in reply to field.

Submitted by Bas on March 11, 2009 to Annoyance, Site: Channel9, Usability

When you post a reply, and find out that you accidentally replied to someone instead of to root, there's no way to change that. Your post will stay a reply to someone, forever causing confusion and fear.

Put the Reply to root/reply to guy radio buttons in the Edit Post form, so that you can change it when editing your post.

Allow proper quoting

Submitted by Bas on April 8, 2009 to Annoyance, Site: Channel9

The only way to quote people is by choosing "Reply to user", (but then you quote the entire message and you can only quote one person) or by manually typing the quote tags. It's slow, error-prone, and not very user friendly. Also I keep (more...)

Allow for ways to use the editor to insert quotes. Perhaps, when I'm writing a post I could select a bunch of text from someone's post and hit 'quote' or press a keyboard shortcut, and have the system automatically copy the selected (more...)

C9 Mobile Version

Submitted by phreaks on March 12, 2009 to Site: Channel9, Usability

Currently C9 doesn't work on my Blackberry. Opera and the Blackberry browser both pretty much choke on C9.

You can get to the forums (with some patience), but you are unable to login and are also unable to navigate beyond page 1 of (more...)

Create a simple mobile version for those of us that are on the go more than in front of a desk, pretty please.

Mark a thread as 'read' when you replied to it.

Submitted by Bas on March 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug, Site: Channel9, Usability

If you reply to a thread, and return to the thread list for that forum, the thread you just replied to is still marked as unread.

Mark a thread as read if you reply to it.

Mark a thread as "read" if the only new post is your own reply.

Submitted by Bas on March 15, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Site: Channel9, Usability

When you reply to a thread, it is always marked as "unread" if you return to the list of threads. You actually have to click it again and 'read' your own post to get the thread marked as "read".

(Previously (more...)

When a user clicks the Reply button in a thread, remember what the last post on that page is. Not the -actual- last post in the database, just the last post the user is currently seeing on the page in front of them. We'll call that post "lastPostUserSaw".
